Condo Insurance Basics

Condos and townhouses have insurance needs different than homeowners and renters.  Basically, your policy will cover everything from the drywall in.  This includes your personal property and built in fixtures in your condominium.  Your condominium owner policy will also include a liability coverage, which would cover injures or damage to people or property that the condo owner would be liable for.

Be sure to check the ownership responsibilities in the condominium association master deed.  This will give you the minimum requirements the association expects from you.  You will also want to consider coverage for any high value items such as jewelry, furs, or guns.  It is important the amount of liability portion of your condo insurance covers all your assets and protects your future income.
